The Challenge
The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry in Halle ( hereafter IPB ) carries out basic and applied plant research. The institute, which is funded by the Leibniz Foundation, employs 100 research staff and approximately 80 employees in areas such as administration and public relations. The brief covered the development of a new website and a new intranet. The corporate identity was also to be modernised.
The Solution
The four main research areas covered by the IPB were presented in a completely new light and the website was given a makeover resulting in a new and more attractive structure. The new website´s most important functions include the databank with publications and the facility to manage the content stored in the intranet. This means that the institute´s administrators can manage processes such as tenders, job offers and other content more efficiently.
The Result
The relaunched website presents the Leibniz Institute for Plant Biochemistry in a completely new light. The content was packaged in a clearer and more understandable structure enabling visitors to navigate the website intuitively. The extensive functionality both in the Internet and the Intranet sites increased the attractiveness both for visitors to the website and staff members. An internal check based on the German standard BITV ( similar to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ) confirmed the new site´s accessibility.
